Migrating from Jaspersoft to Clarity's Native Reporting Workspace

Everything Clarity administrators and PMO teams need to know before September 2026.

The Clock Is Ticking

Here is exactly what Broadcom has announced:

• September 30, 2026 — End of enhancement, maintenance and technical support. For SaaS customers: Jaspersoft is removed in the 16.4.3 production upgrade on September 11, 2026.
• November 9, 2026 (Clarity 16.5.0) — Jaspersoft-based reporting is completely removed. Advanced Reporting console, Ad Hoc Views, Dashboards, Domains, Jaspersoft Studio reports, Classic Object Actions and Modern UX Channels pointing to Jaspersoft reports all stop working.

On-premises customers who have Jaspersoft installed before September 30, 2026, can still reach Broadcom Support Level 1 after that date — but only on an "as-is" basis. No fixes, no guarantees. If a workaround cannot be found, the issue is deemed irresolvable. The Jaspersoft era in Clarity PPM is ending.

The Pain Points Worth Leaving Behind

To summarize the legacy pain points:

• Separate System — It was a separate application outside Clarity — a different portal, a different login, constant context-switching.
• Upgrade Complexity — Every Clarity upgrade triggered a separate Jaspersoft upgrade involving Tomcat servers, keystore generation, CSK content migration and version compatibility checks.
• High Technical Barrier — Report creation required Jaspersoft Studio, XML report definitions and often direct SQL expertise — business users were locked out entirely.
• Infrastructure Overhead — Jaspersoft needed its own server, its own database schema and its own Java environment. It was a product within a product.

What Broadcom Built as the Replacement

Starting from Clarity 16.3.0, Broadcom introduced a native Reporting Workspace built directly into the Clarity Modern UX. Continuously enhanced through 16.3.x, 16.4.0, and 16.4.1 — it is not a bolt-on. It is part of Clarity itself, built around a simple philosophy: no-code / low-code reporting that business users can actually use, without sacrificing the power technical users need.

• Data Providers — Define and configure reusable data sources built from Data Warehouse objects. Your report's data blueprint.
• Report Designer — Drag-and-drop visual builder — tables, charts, Gantt charts, interactive filters. No install required.
• Reports Tile — The consumption layer. Search, interact, filter, export to PDF or PowerPoint, and schedule for distribution.

Your New Reporting Foundation

A Data Provider is a reusable, configured data source built from Data Warehouse objects and attributes — your report's data blueprint. It defines which DWH objects to include, which attributes to expose, how objects relate to each other (joins), what data to filter at source, and row-level security.

• Clarity ships with 23 Out-of-the-Box (OOTB) Data Providers covering investments, projects, resources, financials and more.
• System-protected templates — copy and customize for your specific needs.
• Auto-generated JOINs between objects based on common attributes.
• Write direct SQL queries against the Data Warehouse schema using the built-in schema browser.
• Row-level security and data preview built in.
• Change a Data Provider once and the update flows through to all reports that use it.

Build Reports Without Leaving Clarity

The Report Designer is a visual, drag-and-drop, no-code tool built into Clarity's Modern UX. No separate server, no install, no separate login. Project managers, financial analysts and PMO leads can build interactive, multi-tab, widget-rich reports from within the same application they use every day.

Filters can be applied at Report, Tab or Widget level. Interactive Filters let users click chart slices or bars to dynamically filter related widgets on the same tab — no page reload, no leaving the report.

What Your Stakeholders Experience

Once published, reports appear in the Reports tile for all authorized users — the consumption layer for stakeholders, project managers and executives.

• Search and filter available reports by name, category or status.
• Interact with filters to explore data dynamically within any published report.
• Export directly to PDF or PowerPoint from the interface.
• Schedule reports for automated generation and distribution.
• Save personal filter configurations for quick reuse.
• Control access rights at the report level — only authorized users see sensitive data.

Before You Begin: Administrator Prerequisites

The Reporting Workspace draws from Clarity's Data Warehouse — the same DWH that powered Jaspersoft. Before getting started, administrators should verify the following:

• Data Warehouse is installed and properly configured.
• Schedule DWH jobs: Load Data Warehouse and Load Data Warehouse Access Rights.
• Enable "Include SQL Curve Data" and "Enable Instantaneous Sync" under Data Warehouse options in Classic PPM.
• Grant navigate, create and edit rights to the Reporting Workspace areas based on user roles.

How to Migrate: A Practical Approach

There is no automated migration tool. Your Jaspersoft reports will not convert themselves. This is a manual process — but also an opportunity to rationalize your report portfolio and build something significantly better.
